10 reasons why you do want to go back to work after maternity leave.

Babies are a blessing in the skies and little miracles that we just adore and no matter how hard it is, to begin with, being a parent is a wonderful experience to go through.Little baby girl

Caring for a little child despite being a very demanding role brings so much joy and fulfils your heart with love you could never imagine you could have to another human being.

You watch them go through their milestones and enjoy every moment of it capturing most of it on your camera so you can keep those memories forever and share it with friends and relatives.

After several months of a from a full-time role as a Mum, you might start to feel that you are ready to “move on” and go (back) to work.

Despite having the guilt constantly making you feel this is not the right thing to go, IGNORE it, as there are several Reasons Why You Should Go Back To Work After Maternity Leave:10 reason

1.For well-needed peace and quiet….

…from constant demand of a baby (children). Yes, your boss might demand things from you but that’s not the same.

There will be no crying or screaming when something goes wrong. Your colleagues will tell you if they need something as they can speak (instead of crying).

I spend the whole weekend all by myself with my 3 children and I am always looking forward to going back to work on Monday. And despite all my children speaking (littlest one still learning), there is always a lot of screaming, shouting, crying and demands that I really get tired off.

So no matter how busy the work gets, I still don’t mind it as at least there is a peace and quiet I can work in.

2. You get paid for the work you do…

and get a break too (where you can do anything like walking, shopping, or even just put your feet up and do absolutely nothing).

No matter how much you earn, it’s better than nil that you get when you work at home. This is especially important if your other half is not bringing enough to meet family demands.

3. You get appreciated

and thanked for the work you do (if you don’t- maybe you’re in the wrong workplace).

At home, we get to do 101 things and it always seems like the work is never-ending and as soon as you finish one thing, the ToDo list never seems to get completed, and despite already having done so many things nobody will appreciate your work, as it’s just what we are ‘expected’ to do.

4. You get to talk to adults and likeminded people.adults talking

Children are cute but don’t really understand what you’re talking about. At work people talk, joke and the interaction is just on a different level to the one with a baby.

This must be my top of the points to make as the reason why you want to go back to work after maternity leave.

5. You can make those important callswoman making phone call

while on your break you can speak through the phone without children screaming (which they tend to do as soon as you get on that important phone call).

At home, it’s really difficult to stay on the phone without some interruptions along the way.

6. You will feel better

that you contribute to the family income as oppose to being the one that spends it only. This ties up with point 2 above.

7. You can plan ahead

your shopping list, meals for the next few days, or even do your online grocery shopping can be easily planned during your lunch break.

It’s amazing how much can be done in a space of an hour (during your lunch break) when you have the peace and quiet to focus your mind. I get my grocery shopping at least twice a week during my lunch break as my workplace is right next to the supermarket.

This saves me going shopping after work (I also prefer physical shopping to the online one so the majority of the grocery shopping I do is in the actual shop).

8. You will get to develop yourselflaptop covered in notes

and “exercise” your brain as being at work you always learn something new (if you don’t, maybe it’s time to ask for more responsibility or transfer to a different department). It is important to do this for your healthy mind. Also is one of the things that makes a successful woman.

9. Your friends and family will admire you

for the ability to be a mum, housewife, and an employee all at the same time. I always hear from people- How do you do it all- 3 kids, house, work, shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc, etc? Almost like a SuperWoman 😊

But the truth is, I myself sometimes wonder how did I manage to do all the things I did?

We all have to appreciate and admire ourselves as we are doing an amazing job every single day.

10. Independence

once you get to bring your own hard-earned money home, you get your independence back, with witch comes an increase in self-confidence and self-esteem.

I see a lot when those mums that are not working get to feel down as they get to hear things like: ‘don’t spend too much’, ‘you have not earned it’, ‘I work hard and you only spend’ or ‘you don’t understand how hard is to feed the family as you don’t work’.

As much as those comments should not be really said, I’m pretty sure many women do get to hear them at some points and if not, they might feel this way. Staying at home is hard and doing the same things all day, every day for several months can bring us down and might have a negative impact on our mental health.

Although going back to work usually means you now have to master the multitasking, have less time to get you house chores done (not to mention lack of time for yourself) when we have more on our place, we get to do more too as we find the ways to somewhat tick the things of ToDo list.

If you need something done quickly- give it to a busy person.

So there you have my points on why you want to go back to work after maternity leave.

So what are your experiences? Have you gone back to work after having a child? Do you enjoy working or do you struggle to manage it all? Let me know in the comments below.
