Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day on the budget
Looking for gift ideas for mother’s day that you won’t need to spend a fortune on?
Look no further as in this post I cover all the best ideas which won’t break your wallet/purse.
We love our mother’s hence we want to shower them with lovely presents, however, it is easy to get carried away and we end up spending far less if we don’t watch how much we buy.
Remember- it’s not about how much you spend that matters. It’s the actual fact that you have remembered and celebrated this special day with your mother that she will appreciate.
Also, it’s best to plan this ahead of time so that you can get the right present early enough.
So make sure you have an idea of how much you want to spend so that you don’t get carried away.
Gifts ideas for Mother’s Day on the budget
If you like me- are a little creative, you really do not need to spend much to create a beautiful personalised present that will be unique and will definitely put a smile on your mother’s face. You could also buy personalised items and I have found those ideas for you too.
I think the word “budget” should not mean just any budget but a specifically fairly small amount. To some, this would mean under £10, to others under £20 and to some under £30. Therefore I have only included those ideas as if you can afford more than £30 than you can pick up a lot of items and don’t need to be as creative really. This is why I have split the below into 3 types of budgets:

Card
I used to create my own cards for everyone for any occasion and although I don’t have so much time now, I ask my kids to make cards for close relatives and friends.
Get some crafting paper in a pack of 100 as a better value for money so you have it for many other occasions and get creative. Use some sharpies to write in a nice font some wishes that you can find online here. Also to make it more special, select a picture from your phone a print it out to stick it on the card.
Another option is Moonpig. I love their service as they deliver abroad for a super low cost and on a specific date too! And the cards are super pretty and you can upload a photo and fully personalise it.
-
Flowers
One option is to buy a bunch of flowers from a supermarket.
Another one is to make them from a soft assorted paper, scissors and glue. Here is an easy to follow tutorial for such bunch. These flowers are guaranteed to last ages.

Bake a cake or biscuits that will be decorated for this occasion
If you are good at baking and your mum likes sweets, she will love the idea of homemade cake or biscuits. So prepare the ingredients and get baking! If you cannot think of any nice cake recipe here is a good website to find them.
You could also buy a cake from some nice local bakery
-
Breakfast in bed
If you still live with your mum, why not surprise her with a lovely breakfast in bed. Wake up a little earlier that morning and prepare her favourite coffee and toast or whatever she enjoys eating for breakfast. Not only is this virtually free as you probably would have all the things you need already at home, but also it’s a very nice way of showing the care and love towards your mother.

Chocolates
Also, you could just opt-out for a box of chocolates from Lint or Thorntons
These cost as little as £7.99 (Truprint)and are fully personalised and you can add a photo to it too. I think this is a perfect gift idea for Mother’s Day and many other occasions.
-
Keyrings
These are super cute and can be either bought or made. You can get them from many websites and I personally have been using Truprint (£2.99/photo acrylic keychain) as they are cheaper than other websites and also store my pictures in the cloud (for free) so I could access them anytime and reorder my previous projects (mugs, prints, keyrings etc).
You could also print a little photo and buy blank keyring and there you go- ready present or at least an addition to flowers or a box of chocolates!

Jar of Love
My friend once told me of this very cure present they have made for their partner which they called The Jar Of Love.
It is very simple and all you need is a large jar (use one from pickles or Mayonnaise) and decorate it with some pictures and write something nice on it like “For My Very Special Mother on Mother’s Day “. Inside the jar, you can put a few things like the keyring, or photos.
Also, you can make a few little cards with messages inside with the reasons you Love your Mother. Some ideas: “ “You have thought me how to cook” or “You are beautiful”.
Alternatively, you can buy one already premade and just fill it in with the messages

Draw a picture
If you are good a drawing, take time to draw a beautiful picture yourself and frame it so that your mum can hang it in her house to remind her of how talented of a child she has.
These are sold as a single (£9.99) or set of 2 (£17.99) and 6 (£34.99).
Choose the nice picture of yourself and mum and upload it for a beautiful present to last a while and serve well too.
-
Book
Whatever types of books your mother likes reading, a book is always a great gift idea and with online shops, it’s never been easier to pick some good books at affordable prices.

Homemade SPA basket.
This is a very good idea if you know the things your mum likes to use in her relaxation time.
All you need to do is to get a basket. You might already have one at home to recycle so just decorate it or give it a clean before using it. You might also line it up with some wrapping paper so it looks pretty. If you do not have such a basket you can get one online.
Now you will need things to fill it up with. Keeping it within the budget you can probably only fit about 2 or 3 items like a bath bomb or bath salt, candles or some body lotion that she likes using.
You could also add a towel and a pair of slippers if your budget allows it.
Include some sweet treat or a bathrobe if you really are going to a full SPA hamper basket. Get the items you want to fill the basket with first so that you get the right size basket later on.
-
Photobook
This a very beautiful present that you can personalize with your own messages and pictures. Starting from £19.99 (Truprint) they are inexpensive and fun to create online.
-
Personalised Dairy
I love personalised gifts as they show that you did put some effort into thinking about the right gift and this means you really care. This diary is ideal if your mum like noting things down in the dairy and with the option to add your own photo at the front and back, this would make a perfect gift idea for Moth’s Day (and also inexpensive at only £15.99).

Fragrance
These can be a fantastic idea for ladies that like to smell good. So if your mum is always smelling good, the chances are she would love another bottle of perfume. If you want to keep it under the budget of £20 you need to look out for a good deal. Remember to stay within the tones that your mum prefers.
My mum’s favourite that would fit within the budget are:
–Vera Wang Princess which is sweet yet fruity and floral.
–Sarah Jessica Parker with top notes: Mandarin, bergamot, rosewood, lavender and apple martini
– Calvin Klein Eternity– a floral accent with a high scent longevity
This is a flower that is made of Gold Foil and will last forever. It is very beautifully packed and I think it’s an ideal present for mother and also just under £20.
3. Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day under £30
This is a very cute idea to personalise a super soft and cosy bathrobe with your mother’s name. They come in different colours, and different fonts to choose from.
This is a lovely idea if you mum collects the charms from Pandora (or Chamilia)
Both brands have charms with either first letter of a name, or Mum sign or anything that would be reminding her of the occasion. The Pandora charm prices vary but the prices start from £20 (from Pandora.co.uk) and Chamilia (from HSammuel site)

Accessories from Swarovski
My mother loves Swarovski and they have such beautiful pieces in their latest collection designed just for this special occasion. They can cost quite a lot of money, but you can pick pieces for under £30. Here are some of my personal favourites:
- Swarovski Ring sticker– this is a sticker that would make easier to hold your phone as it sticks to the back of the cover. It’s made into a swan signature shape and it’s very sparkly with Swarovski crystals all over it. Price – £25.00
- Apple watch sparkling case for £25.00
- Crystalline ballpoint pen, vintage rose £25.00
- Charm “M” for Swarovski collectables bracelet £25.00

Cinema tickets for you two
If both you and your mum love movies, there is no better way of spending some quality time than going to a movie together. So surprise your mother with some cinema tickets and take her to a movie.
Although this is costing less than £20, I have put it into under £30 category as you would most likely end up buying popcorn or a snack.
-
A6 Acrylic block
This is a photo block which you can select one beautiful picture of you and your mother and Truprint will deliver it to you for your mum to enjoy for years to come. It cost £29.99 so it’s still within the budget and if your mum loves pictures, this is a one to go for.

Nails salon treatment
If your mum likes to get pampered but don’t always have a chance to get herself beautify, why not treat her to a nail salon for a manicure. You can get a basic manicure for just £20 and a little more if a colour nail varnish is applied.
So here you have my gift ideas for Mother’s Day on the budget that will hopefully help you find the perfect present for your beloved mum.
Just remember to place an order in time for it to arrive before the special day if you are ordering online.
