Weekend speed clean of my large family house

Blog

Today I have a bit of a special post (to me) as I have finally got to put together a video of my weekend speed clean of my large family house.

I have 4 bedroom house and it is plenty to clean and to stay on top of so a lot of things I have to just make sure I keep up with otherwise it would just be impossible to manage.

Also having a full-time job and a blog leaves me with very little time to do the clean, hence the only time I can do it is the weekend.

So here is my video and I really hope you can give me a Like as I promise you – it was super difficult to get it all together.

Weekend Speed Clean of my Large Family House

You will notice that our house is clutter-free and this is because when we have moved a house one year ago we had to get rid of a lot of things just so it is easier to move. But also we do live a minimalistic lifestyle and prefer less than more around us. Having children is so much easier as well to have fewer things around so kids have space to play around and also so it is easier to clean it up.

The equipment I have presented and used in this video are: (Contains Amazon affiliate links- click here for full disclaimer):

H2O steam mop

Dyson DC45 Vacuum

Replacement pads for H2O

If you too are looking for an idea on how to declutter your house, you can find some tips in my previous post here:

Going back to the process…

Let me take you through this process and explain why has it taken me so long to finally get it published.

The time to record (or the lack of it)

Working full time and having kids really takes a lot of time of my day. However, I did shoot the video over one day, although I had to stretch it throughout the day as the kids needed my attention in between. In reality, it took me around 5 hours to shoot this 18 minutes video (with breaks in between of course).

But once it was done I was ready to edit…

Issues with the edit

I had no IT background whatsoever and things I do here are highly advanced for my knowledge so it is all a learning curve for me (a very sharp one too)

I have all the equipment that I need:

  • A great editing software ( Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • A good and fairly powerful computer Lenovo Idealcenter All In One PC (although I need a RAM extension so it processes things a bit faster as it is lagging a little at times)
  • A camera and iPhone to record on ( for this video I used my iPhone entirely, however, this proven some issue as iPhone records in .mov mode and apparently Premiere Pro does not like it and it was not playing my time-lapsed parts at all. This was very frustrating and after a few days of watching YouTube and reading up on it I have finally discovered that the reason was in the format of iPhone videos (not being .mp4 but .mov)
  • Converting software I used HandBreak to convert my iPhone files to mp4 format so that I could use them for my video
  • Audio- also after researching where can I get stock audio- I have finally used one from YouTube itself

So despite having all of the above, it takes time to put the video together. And I only have 18 minutes of a very basic video. Now I understand why it takes filmmakers months before the video is ready for a cinema.

I also had that issue where I have put the whole video together and after exporting it all of my time-lapsed parts were just frozen. And it took me forever to find the answer to this issue. Surprising YouTube did not address this issue specifically. I have asked around on various Facebook groups and someone kindly had answered my question. But I was seriously so frustrated that I was going to give up altogether on the idea of videos for my blog.

Confidence

You might not know this but despite appearing to be a confident person, I am not that good at the recordings. I have attempted so many videos but I always end up stumbling on my words, making silly faces and not speaking naturally. This comes from the lack of confidence and I must say that I have already come a long way in this process and are much more confident now to what I was just 3 months back where the idea of speaking on the camera was literally making me sick.

I must give credit here to two people in particular:

My husband Jash– he is my biggest fan and supporter.

He is the one that reviews my final videos and tells me what looks good and what needs tweaking. Although sometimes I get annoyed at his comments, he truly has the best interest in heart and wants me to succeed at everything I do. It definitely helps to have him on my side during this process.

Beata Podgorska– My personal mindset and confidence coach.

I have been meeting Beata via Zoom meetings from just before the lockdown time started. She had done some amazing work with me and despite our “work” has been done we continue to meet up weekly as this really helps me to carry one with my confidence and the process I am going through.

I had recently published an article where I have Interviewed Beata and if you think you might need her help too you can find some bonus in the post:

So I am so grateful to have a support centre around me and it truly helps to know you can turn to them in a time of need.

I hope you enjoyed the speed clean of my large family house video and I really appreciate if you could share it, like it and subscribe.

I wanted to keep my YuTube video more of Vlog style type of videos of the everyday life and I hope this pays off and you guys enjoy it.

Let me know what do you think…

Thank you so much for reading
